Q: What does being a Consumer Choice Award winner mean to you? How did winning the Consumer Choice Award impact your business?
A: This is a great honor and encouragement in business when you see that doing business with integrity and honesty is rewarded through an award such as consumers choice
Q: What makes you/your company successful?
A: Haldimand Motors is a family business offering one of the largest selections of late model used vehicles in Canada. To back that selection up properly we have over 100 service bays to properly service the vehicles before and after the sale. We have been operating as a no-haggle pricing policy for the last 34 years. All our inventory is listed online with a complete Carfax history report attached to every description and around 20 detailed pictures of every vehicle. The low-pressure sales approach is appreciated by our many longtime customers.
Q: Name a person who has had a tremendous impact on you? How did this person impact your life?
A: John and Arda Edelman ,who started the business back in 1984 learned right from the beginning in business that their roots of being raised in homes of strong faith in God has kept them grounded and kept the focus of the business built around relationships both with the customer and their many employees, which then reaches out to the community.
Q: What is the next priority for your business?
A: The next move for our business is integrating the next generation more fully into the business. Two of our children are already very involved in the main day to day operations of our business and have the same passions for relationship building in all facets.
Q: What makes your business unique in the market?
A: Haldimand Motors is a very high volume vehicle turn over which makes for a constant new choice of selection available to the customer. Along with the transparent pricing policy (best price on the windshield and in advertising), the customer eliminates one of the largest stresses involved with vehicle purchasing. All the vehicles are organized by make and model on the lot, making the experience on the lot much more enjoyable.
Q: What are the "core values" of your organization?
A: Our core value is that Haldimand Motors is based on biblical principles which creates a safe environment of honesty and integrity.
Q: Are you or your company involved in your community (charity, fundraising, etc.)
A: Haldimand Motors is very involved in the community. We host two very large charity events each year. For the last 22 years, we have had The Great Tricycle Race every September. This event involves service clubs from Haldimand County racing tricycles and receiving monies from Haldimand Motors to support projects that the clubs are doing in their specific towns. Then the local volunteer fire departments compete against each other for monies that go to extra equipment for their specific fire halls. All of this involves the whole community coming to watch and bring in food bank items. Each year 1000's of people show up for this unique community event. Then in February, we host a Soup A Bowl that is many local restaurants providing soup to raise food and monies for the food banks. Along with these events and sponsorship of many sports teams we all personally get involved in the community we love.
Q: How do you keep up with the trends in your industry?
A: Since the relationship is a key factor to our business, that flows out to how we purchase our vehicles also. We have established many years of long and deep relationships with companies that we purchase our vehicles from. This has become very important as the shortage of good used vehicles has come to an all-time high. Although there has been a shortage of vehicles we have not been impacted to the same degree as many dealers have been.
